What is Equity Building Spread?

In finance, equity building spread refers to the difference between the cost of borrowing money and the return on investment that you generate from that money.

It’s a key measure of profitability, especially for businesses using debt to finance growth. A positive equity building spread means the returns from investments are higher than the cost of borrowing, leading to growth in the company’s equity.

But, if the spread is negative, the business is losing money on the debt it has taken on. The goal is to ensure that the returns on investments outpace borrowing costs to build value over time.
